๐ค Why Does My Child Snore? Hereโs What You Need to Know!
๐ด Why Your Child Snores (And How to Help!)
Hi Parents,
As both a mom and a pediatrician, I know how unsettling it can be to hear your little one snoring through the night. While it might sound cute, snoring could sometimes indicate a deeper issue that requires attention.
In this weekโs newsletter, Iโll break down what could be causing your childโs snoring, when to be concerned, and how to help your child sleep better. Plus, thereโs a video link below where I discuss this topic in more detail. ๐ฅ๐
๐ Why Does My Child Snore?
Here are some common reasons:
๐คง Nasal congestion: Allergies, colds, or even a deviated septum could be the cause.
๐ฆ Enlarged tonsils or adenoids: These can block airflow and lead to snoring.
๐๏ธ Sleep apnea: Although less common, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) can affect children and may require medical attention.
If your childโs snoring is frequent and accompanied by gasping, restlessness, or pauses in breathing, itโs best to consult a pediatrician. ๐ฌ๐ฉโโ๏ธ
๐ Weekly Tip:
Create a Calming Bedtime Routine:
To improve sleep quality and reduce snoring, establish a simple bedtime routine:
๐ Start with a warm bath
๐ Follow with a bedtime story
๐ Dim the lights and minimize screen time at least an hour before sleep
Consistent sleep habits can make a significant difference! ๐โจ
